FAQs

Why do people steal my content?

There are several reasons people steal content and re-post it as their own – or even credit you. Some do it so that they can monetize their Channel and make money from your hard work; some steal your content to gain followers who they think of as friends; some believe that Copyright law is unjust and everything should be free; some want to monetize their Channel with their own content but they don’t qualify for monetization* so they use the content of others to get past the monetization threshold; and there are some who just don’t know any better – they think if it’s on the internet it’s free. *Minimum requirements for YouTube monetization are 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 hours of watch time in the previous 12 months.

How can I find content which is stolen from me?

Typically you would search the host (YouTube for example). You’ll find this method to be extremely tedious. Takedown Torrent has developed refined, effective methods of searching for your content. Once we identify it we review it for Copyright infringements (not all copied content is a Copyright infringement) and then we report the Copyright infringements to the host on your behalf. Normally the infringements are removed shortly after notification.
